  • Welcome to the Pastors Portal!

Tony Perkins came to the Family Research Council as President with a vision for encouraging pastors to pray for revival in our land (2 Chronicles 7:14) and equipping ministers to lead their churches in becoming spiritual change agents for the transformation of our culture (Matthew 5:13-16). I believe God has called me to join in Tony's vision. Having been a pastor for nearly 20 years, I understand the battles you are in, the multiple-fronts you are fighting on, and I want to be an encouragement to you as you equip your people to become all that Jesus wants us to be as the salt of the earth and the light of the world.

FRC's mission is to defend faith, family, and freedom. Many of you are already with us in that fight. Like you, we understand that the battle to defend the faith, the value of human life, the biblical definition of marriage, our Judeo-Christian heritage, and a host of other important moral issues, is not just a political battle, it is a spiritual battle--and the prize is the America our children and their children will inherit. We appreciate the fact that you are the field-generals on the front-lines of that fight. So we want to stand alongside you on the cultural battlefield and provide you with an arsenal of biblically-based resources, up-to-date news reports, prayer targets, action steps, and encouragement as you lead out in the struggle for the soul of America.

Please let us know how we can be of help to you.

Serving with you under His banner,

    Kenyn

More than one pastor has told us the Update is the first thing they read after their daily devotions. The Update is Tony's and FRC's premier daily e-publication. We don't recommend it as a substitute for your newspaper. But on a single page, we feature news about public policy issues and our government in Washington, from a conservative, Biblical worldview. We recommend the Update to pastors and church members as a great way to keep up with key issues.

The report is a brief weekly compendium (1-2 pages) of current news of importance to pastors and churches, prayer points outlining current church/public policy needs and issues, and a special weekly "for pastors-only" feature - it could be an anecdote, a sermon illustration, or an item out of Church or American history, intended to encourage and help pastors deal with the tasks and challenges they face every day.

The Prayer Team Targets help unite believers across America in prayers of agreement over proposed legislation... executive initiatives, court cases and other matters that require united prayer from God's people. Each weekend, we summarize the week's top policy concerns for the purpose of prayer. The Targets serve those uniquely called to the ministry of intercession and support individuals, prayer leaders, prayer groups, Sunday School teachers, focus and home groups and pastors who lead their churches in prayer over the salient issues of the day. Fundamental to the philosophical tone of the Targets is the belief that prayer, faith and repentance are the keys to revival (2 Chr 7:14).

Sunday morning comes all too quickly. So the idea of coming up with a biblical message on the value of human life, the value of traditional marriage, the value of religious freedom, etc. may seem like a daunting task. FRC is here to help. That is why we are providing you with free sermon outlines and full-text messages to add to your arsenal as you lead your congregation in the battle for the soul of America.

The liberal media and activist groups who want to limit the influence of people of faith often overplay warnings to pastors and churches about the danger of their involvement in the public policy arena. Our Founding Fathers, however, called upon the Lord for His blessing upon our nation and repeatedly declared that morality and religion were essential to the survival of the republic. They constantly encouraged and exhorted God-fearing Americans to be involved in the political process. FRC is partnering with the Alliance Defense Fund to help pastors and churches understand their liberties and restraints with regards to lobbying, political campaigns, etc.

When challenges to the family, faith or freedom occur here in Washington, especially matters in which time is of the essence, FRC President, Tony Perkins, or one of our leading Washington policy experts may invite pastors on our email list to pastors and ministers-only conference calls. These calls enable you to get the facts, have difficult policy issues explained in terms you and your congregation can understand, and confer with other concerned pastors about what you and your church members can do. We notify you by email when such a call will take place and how to join the call.

Begun in 2003, FRC's annual Pastors Briefing gives pastors an opportunity to meet Washington's top policy makers, to hear from fellow pastors from across America who are making a difference, and to learn what they and their churches can do to impact our nation for righteousness. You will gain an understanding of the key issues; the legislative and political agendas of those who make our nation's laws and policy; how you can educate your church and community; and how your can bring your view to bear upon decision makers in Washington and in your state. As FRC's church outreach program grows, we intend to conduct regional pastors briefings in addition to the annual Pastors Briefing in Washington, DC.
